The Brignon wine estate is located in Bouargoub, Tunisia between the gulfs of Tunis and Hammamet.
Tunisia counts to countries of long history of wine production due to its excellent growing conditions
Clay and limestone soils and the great climatic environment give our wine a typical flavour with a fruity character. The vine stocks, grafted together, come from clones acquired from the Comtat nursery in Sarrians (France). The choice of rootstock (Richter 110) was made after a deep analysis of the regions growing habitat.
The estate is part of the “Appellation AOC Mornag“, classified since 1890 at the time of the French evaluation of wine-growing sites.

CABERNET-SAUVIGNON
Cabernet Sauvignon is a world-famous black grape of French origin. The clusters are small to medium, winged with spherical berries and thick skin. It gives the wine a strong and tannic aroma of blackcurrant and blackberry as well as aromas of pepper. It is used as a single grape variety or as a blend for Bougene Cuvee Special and Bougene Reserve.
MERLOT
Merlot is a red grape variety that comes from France, which first appeared in 1900. Red Merlot wines express themselves on aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, and its tannins are velvety. Its texture is deliciously supple, evolving into extravagant aromas of truffle. It's used with Cabernet Sauvignon to produce Bougène Réserve & in assembly with Syrah for Bougène Cuvée Special.
BLACK GRENACHE
Grenache Noir is a black grape of Spanish & French origin. It can be recognized by its fruity aromas of prune and raspberries with also notes of cocoa, pepper, and coffee. We mainly use it to produce Bougène Rosé and as a complement to the assembly of Bougène Rouge.
SYRAH
Syrah is a black grape native to France and Switzerland. Red wines Syrah has purple, dark, and intense flavors that vary slightly depending on the climate. Its aromas are rather spicy, peppery, fruity, and floral (especially violet). They benefit from supple tannins and excellent maturation. Syrah is used as a single grape variety or as a blend for the Bougène Cuvée Special.
MOURVEDRE
This variety of Spanish origin is making a strong comeback in Tunisia. Its wines are dark black with an intense aroma of tannins and moderate acidity. Mourvèdre brings the body to the blended wines. It is blended with Grenache Noir in the production of Bougène Rouge. Mourvèdre gives off aromas of flower, leather, spices, peppery, prune, liquor ice, truffle and vanilla notes.
VERMENTINO
Vermentino is an Italian white grape variety. It is found in a hot climate and can only be grown in areas well exposed to the sun. It brings lightness and freshness to wines due to its low acidity. The aromas released by this grape are multiple: notes of fresh apple, green almond, sweet spices, hawthorn, and ripe pear are only a few of them. Bougène Blanc is made from 100% Vermentino.

A RESPECTFUL HARVEST
On our wine estate in Tunisia we have a strict limitation of the yield (5 to 6 tons/hectare), the use of little to no plant fertilisers and manual harvesting at the most favourable time are the guarantees of healthy grapes
Manual harvesting takes place in the early or late hours of the day to ensure the best conditions of the grapes before they are pressed and further processed.
We make it a priority to keep old traditions of harvesting and supplementing them with modern procedures to achieve our quality objectives.
We benefit from the expertise and advice of our neighbour, Domaine Atlas, one of the most important players in this sector, who we foster a professional friendship with. Benefiting from their expertise and implementing it into our own procedures allows us to excel.
